Children whose parents/carers recognise that their child has an autistic communication style but don't wish or need to pursue a diagnosis.
Focus
Orca supports parents and carers to help reduce their child or children's distress and to increase positive wellbeing. Orca also seeks to help parents and carers to reduce their own distress and increase positive wellbeing.
Approach
Orca support parents and carers through:
Trusting their knowledge and decision-making,
Deepening their understanding of their children’s and their own distress,
Providing relevant and reliable information about contextual and psychological approaches to supporting their and their children’s emotional wellbeing.
Who is Dr. James Stacey?
James is the Founder of Orca Psychology. He is a compassionate and trusted Consultant Clinical Psychologist. James completed his clinical training at the University of Oxford and has over 20 years NHS experience. For the last 10 years James has specialised in supporting neurodivergent children and young people, their families, and other parts of their support network.
James has a deep understanding of how environmental, neurodevelopmental, and psychological factors come together to shape each child or young person’s strengths and struggles, and what is needed for neurodivergent children and young people and their families to thrive. Trust, compassion, and hope guide everything that James does in his work.
Orca Psychology is currently designing talks, workshops and webinars for parents and carers about understanding and improving stress, anxiety and emotional overwhelm in children and young people with social-communication differences and themselves.
We have created a short survey for parents and carers to share their views on Orca Psychology’s current offering. The survey also includes some information about the talks, workshops, and webinars, and enables parents to register their interest to find out more.
